The Fairlady Z (240Z) was the car that not only put Nissan (Datsun) in Division one of the automotive manufacturer’s league, but Japan as a whole.

It paved the way for a new breed of japanese cars to be successful outside their home market, a development which would, almost overnight, rewrite the history of the motor industry

Launched in 1969, the Z has been credited as the most successful sports car of all time, reworded recently due to the success of the Mazda MX5/Miata, the Z is now the most sucessful sports coupe of all time.

It gained fans all the world over and had a number of important successes in competition - both on the tracks and in rallying.

This section covers the development and history of the Z/Fairlady range, from the original roadster of 1960 to the final first generation Z coupes of 1979.
