COMING TO EUROPE
The Zs primary market was always going to to be America, there was doubt at one stage as to whether the Z would come to Europe at all, but as history states, it did.
Two Z’s were diverted from the Australian market to the UK sometime in 1970, as these cars were destined for the 1970 Motor Show. Datsun UK wanted to test the publics reaction to a car that was so different to what Datsun had produced before.
Unfortunately the cars were delayed at customs and failed to make it to the 1970 Motor Show. Datsun managed to ‘borrow’ one from Belgium to show at the last minute.
Both cars were subsequently registered and one went on to be the official road test car for the UK in 1971
